Ageia PhysX card
Has anyone ever used one? i have been to there site and checked out the demos, and well they look amazing.
Its brand new tech so there are only two cards on the market at the moment. Check out www.ageia.com for more info. A PPU as they call it costs around 250-300 smacksbut i think iin the future it wil end up being a nessesary part of a super gaming rig. I am currently playing GRAW and the game is wicked awesome but i could deffinatley tell that someing was "off" with the physiics in the game world. I did some reading and GRAW takes full advantage of the ageia physX engine. |

I heard about those, sounds cool. I dont think Conan will supports it (yet?). I also heard even though it accelerates physics calculations, it would still put a bigger load on the CPU and traditional GPU. Like when a wall is destroyed instead of having 30 peices fall down in a programmed way, now we have 300 pieces breaking off and seperately falling down each in their own way. But as CPU and GPU get more powerful, PPUs will become more mainstream.
And another thing to spend money on. ![]() Btw did you end up buying one? I'd like to hear about it if you did. |
