New Monitor
I'm planning on starting the yearly upgrade to my PC(s) soon. I usually keep one as a desktop workstation/internet/media machine and have my gaming rig. I had a few problems with overheating (I think the processor/ram is going bad since it locks up when you try to watch movies on it) anyway, I degress...
I'm looking into buying a plasma tv between 32-42 inches (prices around $2000). Anyone have any recommendations? Any review sites? (I mean, how cool would it be to play AOC on a 32-42 inch tv/monitor!) I'll probably be buying sometime in July or early August and won't really update my PC until the years end. Any suggestions would be well appreciated. |

On the computer that keeps locking up when trying to watch movies on it,,.. have you tried totally reinstalling Windows on it? That may fix the problem. Also make sure that all of your drivers are up to date (motherboard included).

I bought a new HD since the two I had in it previously had a bad virus (don't let your friends use your computer without adult supervision) and did a fresh install. Worked fine before the new HD. I'll probably replace mobo/cpu/ram with something soon.

Did you check out newegg.com, I never really looked at plasma section (if there is one). I recall seeing some of them pc monitor/tv monitors in Office Depot, they were LCD tho, not plasma. Maybe you might want to check out their website.

I think I've decided upon a monitor (with no thanks to you all
)Syntax Olevia LT42HVi 42" HD-ready Flat-Panel LCD TV. I read a review of the 32" at Anandtech.com and they had good things to say about it and I noticed that Amazon is selling it for $1500. But, one of the doctors that I work with is telling me that he has a Projector that he uses for gaming (consoles/computer/movies) so I'll be heading over to his house to week to check it out. Might change my mind and go with an 8 - 12 foot projector (how awesome would that be!) I'll keep myself posted since I'm really the only one interested. ![]() |

I bought a 101" screen (diagonal) with an Optoma DLP 2000 Lumens projector a year ago. The thing looks amazing when your watching HD TV, Movies, and sporting events. I actually wanted to build my own but just had to much commitments at that time and said **** it. http://www.audiovisualizers.com/madlab/lcd_proj.htm I have hooked up my xbox and PC to the projector and did not think it was crappy looking at all… Although I do have a suggestion if your buying a projector, it’s a good idea to close the shades and shut off the lights because your going to have a hard time seeing things in the daytime. Another thing is to watch out for the replacement lamp cost. The one I have cost $370 just for a replacment. Later! |
