Debating whether my comp is good enough...
Check it out
I built my comp a year ago, at the time it was a crazy good comp, but comps downgrade WAY to fast. I have a p4 3.0, 1gig of RAM, 128mb DDR3 vid card... 80 hard drive (dont need much imo). Pretty good comp, WoW and other games run smoothly on it, but you guys think it'll be ok for AoC? |

But if you don't want to buy/build an entire new computer then I'd do what Lomi mentioned before, just upgrade your vid card and add another 1gb of ram. (imo) ![]() |

hmm you'd probably wanna sell the whole thing except for the hard drive. But then again you could get a Sata hard drive if you don't have one and itd be even faster. And any optical drives you could keep like cdr's and dvdr's etc no reason to sell those just to replace them. But if you get a newer machine you'd probably have to sell everything else and buy all new to meet the requirements.

I'd suggest save you money up and wait for specs for the game to come out or around X-mas (or after x-mas) time for much better sales and prices. Then work with the specs they give you to build a great cheap computer. and if your computer is mostly gameing I'd suggest getting a AMD processor next time.

Hehe gonna run the game on a laptop (docked), can't wait to test it out!!! (amd Turion dual core 2gig, 2gig ddr, 256 Radeon X1600 (512 hyper mem)...BAH i cant wait for this game Last edited by Thibadeaux; 07-03-2006 at 12:15 AM. |

I don't see you needing a new computer. Buy a better video card and maybe a gig of RAM, and you should be set. Even if your MB slots are still AGP instead of PCI-E, the latest Nvidea AGP cards are super fast (Whatever the 7000 series of cards are called).
Your comp isn't so old that you absolutely need to go dual core and PCI-E and SLI etc. 2 gigs of RAM and a nice 256M card (or even a 512 card, though a 512 card would be overkill for your system but it would be a bear) should be quite fine. I have a gig and 256m vid card, and I don't plan to upgrade. Just make sure you get a newer card, that supports shader model 3.0. You can always buy a new comp later, and the longer you wait to buy a whole new system, the more you'll get for your money. Let's say you have 1500 dollars to spend. If you spend 1500 dollars now, you'll have a nice system. If you spend 500 dollars on the card and the RAM now, you'll still have a decent system. And if you don't like the way AoC plays on it a year from now, you can use that 1000 dollars you have left over and get a Vista system that will be much better than any 1500 dollar system you can buy right now. Does that makes sense?
