As far as I know you cant just simply upgrade the processor in a laptop. Or in most desktops for that matter
I may be completely wrong here, Im not the worlds leading doctor in computer technology, but I have been working with them for a good number of years.Laptops are like those pre wrapped soggy bread nasty cheese gas station sandwiches. You can ask for different stuff on it, but the lady working there wont help ya out. ![]() I think the most you can do to upgrade a laptop, is sometimes get more memory for it. I dont know where to go to get more memory for one though. I know not much help am I, sorry. Im just tellin ya what I know ![]()

Heyas DF ;P
Yeah you can change out the CPU on a laptop, it's just _time-consuming_ as it's really tight, which is also gonna mean an expensive bill (it really ain't cheap). If you were to get a proper manual for the laptop (technical manual, not the crap you got with it when you bought it) it's all in there , stating nice and clearly how to do it, and also which CPU units which will work with the Mo'Bo (at date of printing). This manual is usually found at the website of the retailor (in this case Dell), and is there for public view. I would not have a go at this, if you are not sure you're capable enough to do it! If you have a friend or someone who's used to working -internally- with computers ask them to do it! Lig

I've never worked on a laptop before, but I would be surprised if a mainboard that supports 1.8 could be upgraded to a 3.2 ghz chip. That certainly isn't possible with a desktop, you would have to change the whole motherboard, which in turn might force you to change your type of RAM, and then it might not have the same slots for your cards, etc., etc.

all I can say is stay away from upgrading your laptop. Not only will it cost you a fortune to have some pro do it for you (not to mention price of new CPU) but compatibility like Torr said is another big one. On top of that, laptops are just not meant to be used for gaming.....aside from few Alienware ones hehe and you are far better off getting yourself new Desktop. You could probably buy cheap desktop for $350 at bestbuy or some other retail store that would perform better then your upgraded laptop.
