Graphics Card troubles- help please!!

ok, im no good with explaining things like this but ill give it a go. *deep breath*

I replaced an old graphics card with a (reading from the box) Leadtek WinFast A6600 GT TDH
Now, a message comes up every time I start my computer saying:
"To protect your hardware from potential damage or causing a potential system lockup, the graphics processor has lowered its performance to a level that allows continued safe operations."

any ideas on how to fix this problem?

sounds like a fan problem, does the card come with an external power connector? ie on the card is there a 4pin molex connector (same as you connect a HD/dvd-drive to the powersupply....)

This should be the answer to the problem. A vidcard is like a small pc anymore - they have a microprocessor, ram, operating system, chipset, cache ram, and an i/o bus, etc. They're pretty much as powerful as the average pc was about 5 years ago. Cutting-edge video cards today are specifying power supplies providing more than 480W of -clean- power and *two* auxiliary power connectors!

It's expected that low power-consumption architecture for video cards will become more widely available around Q3-Q4 of this year.
