Graphics Card Brands

Ok so I now need a new graphics card. I am willing to go with Nvidia or ATI. I need some reliable brands that people have bought. I had an EVGA 7900gt and that went to crap in less than a year.

Edit: One more thing...will I be able to switch to ATI from Nvidia if I can't even turn my computer on? I know you have to erase the Nvidia drives before you install the ATI, but if I cant turn on my computer than how can I do this?

Thanks

I had good luck with EVGA so far, ASUS was wonderful...XFX is the worse you can get, I burned 2 different ones in under a week and the XFX technical support told me to buy another card cause if I sent it in for repair then I had to pay shipping to Asia...

sure you can, just make sure you're not switching from AGP to PCI-E slots cause they are VERY different and they dont fit each other

Ok so I have found some decently priced Ati 1950s and I am thinking about getting it. If someone could tell me the exact steps I need to take to switch from Nvidia to ATI that would be great.

Thanks

OK, here are your steps.
1. Turn On your PC
2. Uninstall Nvidia drivers (everything will still work, but it's not optimized)
3. Shut Down your PC
4. Disconnect monitor cable from your Nvidia card
5. Open your case
6. Take nvidia card out of the case
7. Put your ATI card in there
8. Close your case
9. Connect monitor cable to ATI card
10. Turn ON your PC
11. Once in windows, install ATI drivers.
12. Have fun.

Like mentioned above, make sure your motherboard actually supports PCI express 16. If your motherboard only supports AGP, you just wasted your money on that card.

Thanks for the info. hehe dont worry, I know that much about video cards . I have PCIe not AGP...it would have been a huge waste of money to get AGP when I got my computer since AGP was dying then.

i would suggest instead of usuing ATI's drivers use omega drivers, they work much better, plus if you want you can over clock your card with them(thats what im usuing to overclock it)

mind you use it at your own risk since its not the products drivers, but i love my omega drivers.
