My Steam program keeps going crazy with my CPU.
it freaking uses 99%??! wtf is up with that.
im pretty sure it shouldnt do that.
it does that when im in a loading screen for any source games.
anyone ever had thsis problem?

Does it stay at 99% or just when loading? I haven't had many problems with steam yet I hear about others with issues from time to time.

yes at loading.
loading a game.
loading a server.
it goes beyond its resources.
i dont know why it does it.
it usually happens when its at the "receiving client info" thingy on the loading bar.

aand then steam takes away all the CPU from the game. and goes 99% like a super saiyan and gets my game stuck. actually my computer. the only thing to unstuck the comp is to exit out of steam. or the game.

Hmm I assume it was working fine beforehand? You could always reinstall but thats kinda a B#$%!.

2142 went nuts on me after the last patch, had to reinstall but lost my CD key! ack I uninstalled the game before i relized i lost my manual. had to buy another copy heh.

did the bullS*^& reinstalling an hour ago. still goes 99 on me. god. i hate steam so bad. why does it have to be on when you wanna play damn it.

Maybe try a reg/system clean up even a defrag... other than that I would start combing through the forums for steam support and such. I'm not sure whats making it bug out.

if reinstall don't work yer ill running reg cleaner de-frag and run a virus scanner though it iv haired of some viruses that piggy back on to programs like steam.

if all that fails no idea haven't use steam my self since HL2 was first released

im doing refraging later today. it worked like twice last night. when i was playing a game. then it crashed on me. i have it on window mode so i can see the task manager. steam went to 99% and looping sounds started going.
acutally first its looping sound. then i cant click anything. then 99% crash.
did registry cleaning already. imma try scanning later.

I had a problem with steam where I tried to open it and it said the program was already running, which it wasnt. I just restarted and it works again.

i have plenty of those pony. lolz sometimes i just double click by accident. or i go to task manager and end the process for steam.
but neways.
i found out that i can play only source games by forcing it to play in direct x 7 and only it will run.
i don't know why. and even with that i still get looping sound crash.
anyone have any ideas?
i did registry, frag, scan. didn't work. Steam was still shooting 99% cpu usage
