ok, changed the PSU and case as Flor pointed out, and added a DVD as requested.
about the mobo, I haven't dealt with Intel's since the 3x86, and I spent a good ammount of time checking boards, cause of lack of knowledge about them, I guided myself via the reviews, bus speed and ram to match what Mince wanted. Price went up but not much. what's your opinions on the case and PSU now Flor? and remember that he has a 2k tops budget and all that is without shipping.

Are you in need of a computer right now?
The longer you wait the cheaper and better stuff you can get. Lets say you are not in need of a computer right this second. You wait untill say a week or two before AoC or WAR. You will probly be able to get that stuff much cheaper. If your waiting for WAR you could probly get a AMD quad which will be much faster then the intel stuff and there for you will have a faster computer. Well that is if you can wait. |

well, i've heard that prices will drop this fall, so I may as well wait until then i guess and maybe overclock to around 3.3GHz for same price and internal temp as I would now to 3GHz.

Whatever you get, it has to be BIG and it has to use heatpipes, maybe 90mm fan can do it, but I strongly suggest 120mm. I advise you against liquid cooling, since it's not an easy thing to install, I've bult a lot of PCs, but I still don't feel comfortable messing with that. Good heatsink/fan combo will run you 40-50 bucks, of course there are more expensive ones but I don't see their performance justifying the price, especially when you are on the budget. Oh, and don't forget to buy ArcticSilver 5 thermal paste. Smallest package will run you 10 bucks on newegg.com with shipping, kind of rip off IMO, but it is a must. Never use stock paste/thermal block if you plan to overclock your PC. You can visit ArcticSilver website for insturctions on how to apply it, it's extremely simple.
EDIT: Also, what operating system are you going to use. That 4GB of RAM I think is waste of money, especially if you are installing XP, or even 32-bit Vista. If you must, get 3GB, you can get your money's worth out of that if you use vista, but 2GB is perfectly fine and usually more than you'll ever use.
