you would need to know what motherboard you have. One way to find out, if you have corp-built computer that you bought in store, is to go their website, type in your model/serial number or whatever they might require, and look at specifications. Usually it will list what sort of slots and ports it has, and sometimes it will even list what motherboard you have.
In case they list motherboard and they don't list slots/ports, go to website of that motherboard and search for your model and look at motherboard spec there. Probably the easiest way to find out is to open your case and look at your slots. PCI-express x16 is usually about one inch longer than PCI slots, and it will probably say somewhere next to that slot PCI EX16 or something on motherboard surface.

No matter what kind of motherboard you have, I would highly reccomend a card from BFG corp. Lifetime warrenty and excellent support if needed.

If you're thinking about upgrading your video card for Windows Vista, consider waiting a little while for ATI and Nvidia to release their DirectX 10 graphics cards. DirectX 9.0 cards will work great on the desktop and in legacy DX9 games, but you'll need DirectX 10 hardware for advanced Windows Vista games. Looks like we should wait until they make directX10 hardware. |
