help me build a new PC
Ok I need the resident LOS computer geeks here to help me out.
I use my computer for gaming and internet surfing. However, I only know how to hit a certain button and have it shoot an arrow/swing an axe. IE - I dont know jack shit about the way the comptuers work. I have a buddy who wil build it for me, I do however need someone to tell me exactly what I need. If someone is bored out of their minds and wants to make a list of what I should get. I have a nice new 32 inch flat screen to play it on. With AOC coming out in March I need a new PC to satisfy my need to rule the MMO world. ty very much -celtic |

1.- Don't mind about Intel vs AMD, Nvidia vs ATI?
2.- Are you keeping anything from your current PC? Like the hard drive where your windows are files are and your dvd-rom or changing everything completely and friend is moving your files over? 3.- Budget

I dont know what its like in the states but AMD which i have used for my last 2 pc's are quite a bit behind in tech development i aint no pc guru but lways handy to have a rl m8 that is and he keeps me informed on developments steers me away from any potential it disasters.
atm i would reccomend the 6600quad core and 2-4mb of corsair ram 800mhz. but theres alot of new gear comming out atm, and were expecting a few price drops in the uk after the first quarter and im eyeing up ddr3 ram as a b-day present for myself in aug, and should hopefully have my homemade cooling unit complete.Mechanic by trade pc's just a hobby and my dads a air con/refridgeration tech atm looking at -20 to-30 direct chip cooling and case cooled system. narud |

All right, let's see what I can pull out..
SAMSUNG Black 20X DVD+R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151161 $24.99 Antec Nine Hundred Black http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021 $119.99 SONY Black 1.44MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16821103116 $7.99 Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136178 $94.99 GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-DS4 AM2+/AM2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128075 $149.99 OCZ GameXStream http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002 $129.99 (-$20 rebate) AMD Phenom 9500 Agena 2.2GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103226 $189.99 Creative Sound Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE 7.1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102003 $27.99 EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800GT 512MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130318 $239.99 Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116204 $111.49 Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104008 $115.99 Arctic Silver 5 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835100007 $5.99 Total is $1219.38 without S&H and depending on which state you live, you might get Tax as well. Now since you're redoing everything I thought you needed other parts but they change depending on taste which are: Keyboard Logitech G11 Silver & Black 104 (gaming) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126009 $58.99 Logitech 920-000325 Black 104 (confort) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126035 $42.99 Logitech G15 2-Tone 104 (fancy gaming) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126034 $79.99 Mouse Logitech MX518 2-Tone 8 Buttons http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826104178 $39.99 Microsoft 9VV-00001 Black 7 Buttons http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826105016 $54.99 Speakers Cyber Acoustics A-3780rb 180 watts 2.1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836150038 $89.99 Headset Creative HS-900 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826158053 $45.99 Personally I'm a simple person when it comes to keyboard/mouse and just get a natural combo (yeah I like the whole curved, divided thing). And the headset is just a good option for gaming with vent, but of course it's all up to taste so whatever you decide, spend some time looking at all of them for one that you like. As you're starting a whole new PC from scratch, for Office you should go with Open Office, completely free and just as good, AVG Antivirus also the best and free. I'm sure I overlooked something, and other guildies will add/object/correct when they post ![]()
