Make my rig
Alright, I need a good computer capable of running MMO's and FPS's at high frame rates. I can build it myself or get it pre made. What do you suggest? I need a full list of computer parts, preferrably a good graphics card, and I'm going to run XP, not vista. I'm just looking to all you since I don't know much about the best deals.

What's your budget?
If you have 5-600 bucks to drop, you can get a decent mid-end system that will run most games at moderately high graphics settings with a 20-40 frame rate OR You can spend 850-1200 on a system that will push any game at max or close to max graphics settings with a frame rate of around 30-80(30 being under heavy load). It really all comes down to your budget. Quote:
Vista gets a bad wrap because stupid people don't understand how it works. Most of the bad reviews you've heard of vista are from people who tried to install it on their 3 year old machines with a athlon 3200 xp and a gig of ram. Vista eats quite a bit of ram, true.. but do you know why? Vista actually uses free ram that's not currently in use, so your programs run faster and more reliable than they would on XP. When you're running a game or program that requires more ram than what's currently available, then vista will offload ram resources from other applications and make that available to your memory hungry game or program. That being said, most editions of vista x64 support up to 128gigs of physical memory... not that you'd ever be able to run 128gigs haha. With as cheap as ddr2 800 ram is today, there is really no point in not running vista x64. You can pick up 4 gigs of ddr2 800 at newegg right now for around 80-90 bucks. I've been using vista x64 ultimate since november, and I will never go back to xp. I have *NEVER* had any incompatability issues, driver issues, or bad performance in vista. |
