maybe I will try emailing Adobe's support with the event log and my DXDiag and see if they can help. It runs fine on my laptop, also Vista Home Prem.(32-bit though), it would just be easier to use it on my desktop.

Ok, lets start out with a little bit of background information on your install of photoshop cs3.
Is this copy an upgrade from a previous version? Is UAC(Windows Vista User Account Control) turned on?(this can cause issues with select machines, mine however is turned off and PS still works) Is Vista updated to a current build? What are your system specs? |

Try running it in windows xp sp2 compatibility mode(right click shortcut, properties > compatibility tab).
I'm assuming you've tried completely wiping CS3, and reinstalling. I'm also assuming that you haven't gotten any errors while installing. Do you have any issues with any other programs? |

Tried compatability and reinstalled with no luck as well as editing the registry.
All the other programs from Adobe work fine, the only two I have trouble with are iTunes, it works but I get error messages that it isn't supported, and Photoshop.

For iTunes(probably not top priority for you), there is a 3rd party cdrom driver you can install to fix the issue. Link: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
Download the 64bit driver. Still investigating the photoshop issue. I just installed it on 2 of my clients machines that I just built, with no issues. Machine 1 is running vista x64 home basic amd 4200 x2 AM2 Biostar TForce TF570SLI 4gb of ram 8600gts Machine 2 is running vista x64 ultimate Core 2 Duo E8400 Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G 4gb of ram 8800gt I haven't been able to find much info on the web concerning the problem, but I'll continue to look. |

I will try this tonight after school. I use PC-Cillin and it does sound like the exact same issue the OP had. Good find and thanks.
was up till 1:30 this morning uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck, I may just reformat over the weekend and start fresh.
