I could see maybe by a few months given that it hardly produces any extra heat since you don't have to increase the voltage of the cpu

I'm sort of bringing this back from the dead, but I'm going to order it sometime next week.

I just wanted to ask, would it be a good idea to get a tv tuner card from newegg? I'm getting a 22-28" LCD and I think that I'll turn it into my living room TV also, so on that note, I should also add some speakers to the mix.

What do you guys think about these. Please let me know if there are any problems I dont see.

A bit more info, me and my girlfriend dont really care about super quality for our tv/movies, we just need something we can watch and hear from across the room. So built in monitor speakers wont cut it.

For gaming I'll be using this:
steelseries 61001 3.5mm/ USB Circumaural 5H v2 Professional Gaming Headset

If anybody is using a certain headset that they feel is a really nice deal, and a reliable headset, or if you have other recommendations, I'd love to hear them.. From what I've found on newegg I think that these are the best.

Speakers for tv/movies
Logitech R-20 12 Watts 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System - Retail

tv tuner card.
Actually I have no idea, any ideas?

I've always been a fan of AMD as well. I refuse to spend all that money on an overpriced intel chip.
I wouldn't waste your money on the X2 cores, they all bug out even the fixed models. Just wait for the new cpu lineup in August or September.

The new intel cores are pretty good from the specs I've seen, I nice upgrade from the duel cores.

Doesn't look like you'd need a 750w supply on that system with one vid card and especially if you won't be OCing. You should look into the WD 640AAKS for your HD. It's gotten great reviews - especially for its price point. 2200 is a bit high for that original configuration. For $1400 I just built a system with a C2Q9450, 9800GTX, 4gb pc8500, x2 640 gb drives, x2 dual layer dvd drives, Vista x64 OS, corsair 650tx psu, asus striker II 780i mobo in a cooler master 690 case (great air flow). I'm using the supreme fx 7.1 sound it came with adequate but am still on stock cooling.

Yes, Ion migration happens faster, your cpu will last 3-5 years vs 10, Im sure youll be using another PC before then.

What you do get in significance is extra performance:P

Honestly, overclocking is worth every little "risk"...

You forget that part of overclocking is the chance of getting the PC to self reboot, freeze and other nasties...which could happen in the middle of an intense battle or raid in WAR

For the TV tuner card, even though you stated you dislike them some, ATI has been good on the TV turner card I use to own. Hauppage has the highest rated card. Since I have not used one in... 3 years I think... just make sure you get a 4-star or above model

Unlike a lot of other people here, I almost ALWAYS include a dedicated sound card. It adds a second audio option on the PC. For instance, I usually have music going on my primary speakers and then vent/in-game sound effects on my headset. Also, for recording you will see some increased performance.

TV Tuner Card: Newegg.com - Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350 Video Recorder, TV/FM Tuner Card PCI Interface - TV Tuners & Video Devices

Sound Card: Newegg.com - AuzenTech Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards

If you go both routes make sure you have enough clearance. If not, get an external TV tuner card. They are 95% as good and give some felxibility with the coaxial cable for the cable.

As an interesting note: I feel like my dedication to dedicated sound card is similar to Pedro's Floppy drive addiction

My gaming rig is about a year old, I will spare you the details, but it is still pretty fast.

My opinion on sound cards is to get a soundblaster audigy, they are like 20 bucks and allow for awesome surround sound in game. It is weird, you will start to react to noises that come from behind you in different dirrections, or in other out of sight areas.

another thing that makes people drool at my PC is the 42" HDTV I use as a monitor. Get yourself a DVI to HDMI cable and a nice 1080p HDTV for your monitor. Then you don't need a tv tuner, lol, just torrent the shows you like and watch live tv when you wanna watch live tv.

That is sad in so many ways

Hope you have good speakers too cause no point in getting a dedicated sound card with $40 speakers.

Newegg.com - Klipsch Promedia GMX A-2.1 78 watts 2.1 Speaker - Speakers

If that answers your question
