Experiencing technical difficulties
For some reason neither mass effect nor crysis will work on my machine after loading. When I try to load up a single player game on Crysis it works perfectly but then when loading the first level always freezes at 41%. Mass Effect won't even load up the menu after installation. I've tried installing on both hard drives and on a variety of gfx settings. Nada. I'm currently using my motherboard's sound card, so I ordered a new sound card because I need one anyway, but I doubt that's the cause of my troubles. I also updated my video drivers after I tried initially and that didn't do the trick either.
Age of Conan and Bioshock are the only other game I've tried and they work perfectly (or in the case of conan, as well as can be expected). Thoughts?

Pretty strange, seems more like a compatibility problem with the G9 drivers, wouldn't be surprised with how recent the G9 drivers are and how they are still working on their support for games.
Besides that, I don't see why two games wouldn't work while others would.

Wow, really odd indeed...
First, when crysis loads, and stops at 41%, check windows manager, and see if there are any application errors at that point. (perhaps something related to a graphics driver). It freezes at EXACTLY 41% every time, and you have installed the game on different hard drives with the EXACT same result? |

Just a suggestion/question...... Have you checked the games respective forums for clues?
You might also want to see if there is a firmware update for your optical drive. Last edited by Pwnzilla; 06-21-2008 at 10:11 AM. |

Well, found a good fix for Mass Effect on their forums, just had to right click it and run as administrator (apparently running a program while on the administrator profile is not running as administrator because Vista has its head up its ass).
Crysis is still being a pain, but I think the crysis forums are probably going to be better equipped to handle the problem. Thanks for the advice.

make sure u got a PPU on the video card since crysis is a heavy system killer due to the high end on it also check your HD make sure their not having bad clusters. run chkdsk and see. if u post your spec it might help also working on the problems also post the error message your getting if any. cheers and love and peace brother.
