3870 X2 or 4870?

Alright Im building a new PC soon and I need to know which would work better, two Radeon HD 3870 X2s or two Radeon HD 4870's?

Ive been looking for benchmarks for the 4870 but since its so new its hard to come across.

According to Anandtech...AnandTech: The Radeon HD 4850 & 4870: AMD Wins at $199 and $299 a single 4870 outperforms a single 3870X2, so I would say go with the 4870.

Looks like you'll be pleased. The 3870X2 does perform a bit better in a couple of the benchmarks, but that is probably due to driver optimization. The performance of the 4xxx series should improve a bit more (it usually does) as the drivers are refined.

HD4870 kills te HD3970X2 in pretty much anything... besides, once overclocked and fair bit it just blow the HD3870X2 out fo the water.

P.S which benchmarks show the HD3870X2 beating a HD4870?

Ah yes, 3Dmark06 and oblivion are teh only ones that actually beat the HD4870 consistently by a fair margin, the witcher and assaisn creeds show only one resolutin were the HD3870X2 beat the HD4870 by about1fps or less:/

Driver optimisation should remove any Advantage that the HD3870X2 has over the HD4870 in all titles but oblivion till the HD4870 is available in 1Gig flavours Overclocking it too will just make it even more dominant

SHHHHH! No exulting on your computer's performance until you get them installed and running. You will anger the PC gods and something will go wrong with the installation.
