Mic probs with Steam

Like the title says i got some problems with my Mic and Steam. My mic works for Vent and TS and always has. But when im playing CS or TF2 It dosnt seem like my mic picks anything up when I talk into it. Anyone know about this and/or how to fix it?

If Vista OS, did you try running vent as admin mode?

He said Vent works fine.

Steam uses it's own ingame system.

First see if Steam is detecting your mic.

Open Steam
Select File > Settings
Click the Voice Tab > Detect Audio devices

I did that and then did the "Test Mic" option and all i got was a bunch of static.
