Soulstorm loading problem

I installed dawn of war: soulstorm recently and the bloody thing won't load. I get past the credits and opening cinematic, then it says that it's loading, then it crashes without even an error message. I'm running vista and I'm wondering if there is something that's squelching it. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Computer Management Event viewer error message at time of crash? Could tell you exactly what it is (like an Nvidia driver error or something).

Also, you seem to be having an above average number of issues loading/installing games am i correct?

It seems like it to me. I was wondering if you ever checked to see if there is a firmware update for your optical drive Skozat? I have had cases of where a program would not load from a CD/DVD-ROM until the optical drive firmware was updated. If you know the exact model number of your optical drive, check the mfg. site to see if they have a recent firmware release.

Seems like your optical drive is being a real "banana". So as mentionned above update the firmware on your durner, and if that doestn work try gettinga new one, there like 30bucks.

I currently have DoW SS and its running fine, except for the occasional online sync errors which makes all pcs involved; d/c and then crash out of the game:/ Also, as usual, gamespy havent been very proactive in fixing their online game managing services.

Well, do you even need the DVD in the reader to play the game? Have you tried downloaded games and see how those work? I'll wait to see the event viewer before i start pointing fingers =)
