Official Minimum System Requirements For War!

The official minimum requirements have been released on the warhammer website, so this isn't some NDA breaking information lol.

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For Windows XP

· 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
· 1 Gigabyte RAM
· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

For Windows VISTA

· 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
· 2 Gigabyte RAM
· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

Supported Video Cards

ATI Radeon(TM) series

· 9500, 9600, 9800
· X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
· X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
· 2400, 2600, 2900,
· 3650, 3850, 3870
· 4850, 4870

NVIDIA GeForce series

· FX 5900, FX 5950
· 6600, 6800,
· 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
· 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
· 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
· GTX 260, GTX 280

Intel(R) Extreme Graphics

· GMA X4500

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slowly. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

About as expected. I think those requirements are just a bit higher than WoW's minimums. Obviously designed to run on a large portion of the installed user base with scaling built in to accomodate system variations. Low end systems will have to turn off eye-candy to get good frames and high end systems can turn up the eye-candy to maximum effect.

Out of curiosity why does vista require double the RAM than XP?

Because it is a bloated resource hog. Same reason XP required 2X more ram to run smoothly than 98/2000. Pretty much a rule of thumb with each truly new Microsoft OS is double the ram over the previous version to get decent performance.

And here I thought 4g of ram was going to be like quadrupling my power... At least it looks pretty...

I don't expect much to change in Windows 7. They have already stated it is just building off Vista. I expect it to be like moving from Windows95 to Windows98. I think of it as more of a marketing move than any significant development/improvement. They will add/change just enough features to be able to call it "New & Improved" and get more revenue.

I hate vista and love it , i have 4GB of Mushkin Extreme [ beautiful blue heatpsreaders man i love the look] and it will forever read 3.2. just the downside of vista.

good news for most of those with Non-Gaming rigs , the guys who play on their everyday computer is it will play the game pretty solid. Even the Emachines now have a PCI-E slot on the mobo and come with dual cores. toss in some extra ram from bestbuy [ losers , sorry i hate best buy ] and a cheap videocard like a 8600 and game on! 2Gb of ram will suffice

That is not a Vista issue. If you are only getting 3.2Gb of system ram I would assume you are using the 32-bit flavor of the OS. That is a limitation of any 32-bit OS (XP included) in that it can only address a maximum of 4Gb of memory and the GPU memory is given precedence over system memory so that it won't address the balance of system memory. I run Vista 64-bit and have all 4Gb of system memory at my disposal.
