Might want to check it for rootkit infection as well.

Sophos Anti-Rootkit - Free rootkit detection and removal

If all else fails, format and reinstall OS.

You're going to have to run Hijack this. You'll also need to post the log files on a forum that knows what they are doing with that program, haha. I remember getting that exact same malware on one of our computers at work some time ago...The only solution we found (minus using spybot/adaware/virus scan w/our own virus software) was to reimage the computer. We tried all the normal free stuff above with no success.

yea scan with everything to try to fix your machine. worst case scenario you will have to wipe your machine and reinstall windows. Next time be even more careful of where you go on the internet.

I currently use AVG 8.0 Full Edition, and it scans all the links through google to make sure the pages won't give you a virus. Granted its a bit expensive, but I got a virus once and AVG just forcibly removed it for me. Thanks AVG!

Actually, the Google links scan is included with the free version of AVG as well.

And before you open stuff, scan it with something like this;

VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan

It uses 33 scanners to scan it it doesn't take long unless it's a big file as well.
